Jan. 7th, 2015 09:48 pmI am not Jewish myself, but I have a big interest in Jewish culture and spirituality, so anything along those lines would be really great. I am less interested in The Shared Experience of Womanhood than I am in specific women characters and how they relate to their gender and each other. I am also a fan of male/female friendships, so don't feel like you have to exclude the guys to focus on the women.
LIKES: friendship, complicated relationships, cultures and culture clashes, shenanigans, darkfic, sadfic, humor, kinkiness (see my fics/bookmarks/other dear author letters for kinks I like), food as a metaphor for love, whump and hurt/comfort, forced or nonsexual intimacy (bed sharing, washing, wound tending, etc), magic and the supernatural, domestic moments, found families
THE RAVEN CYCLE
I am totally in love with 300 Fox Way as a place as well as the women who live there. I would love a story about their family rituals, the mundane workings of the psychic business, or holiday celebrations (I see them as having a hodgepodge of mostly pagan spiritual beliefs, but this could be a way to incorporate something Jewish). Calla, Maura, and Persephone are my favorites, and I would love something set when they were younger, either before or after Blue shows up (I am also more than okay with femslash or OT3).
Also, I know this could come across as Very Problematic, but I kind of headcanon Kavinsky as Jewish. Not to make him the evil foil to good, Catholic Ronan, but to make them more alike, two queer, magical sons of immigrant fathers with more money than sense. Ronan's identity is so heavily tied to his father's culture and religion, and he struggles to reconcile that with his sexuality and dream powers (which are themselves narrative parallels). I just think it would be interesting to see Kavinsky in the same place, trying to balance his father's culture and beliefs with the knowledge that he can make anything he wants and literally create life.
GOON
Doug is beyond adorable, and I would love anything where he gets to be his wonderfully dopey self. I would love him introducing Eva, Xavier, or the guys on the team to Jewish customs, or celebrating Jewish holidays with them. I would also love something pre-series about Doug and Ira's relationship, or anything involving Pat because he's kind of my favorite character (FWIW, it took me several viewings to realize that Pat was supposed to be Irish and not Jewish, so you could go either way and I'd be happy). I pretty much ship everyone in every combination.
BROOKLYN NINE-NINE
I love the zaniness of this show, all the weird friendships they have with each other, and Jake Peralta being a dumbass manchild with a heart of gold. Anything where the team gets involved in wacky shenanigans and has to rely on each other to get out would be amazing. I mostly prefer gen for this fandom, but my OTP is Jake/firm but affectionate doms, especially Gina, Rosa, Terry or Holt (it's a shame that nobody's written Jake/Holt daddy kink, just saying). I would be okay with any pairings except the ones in my DNWs, as long as the focus is on the zaniness and not on fluffy romance.
