trick or treat goodies

I received four great fics - one for Harry Potter, and three for hockey RPF (one for each of the rare pairs I requested, which was pretty cool). A nice mix of sad, spooky, and silly.
Halloween 1978 by deepdarkwaters, Marauders gen
One Moment by brutti_ma_buoni, Sidney Crosby/Jonathan Toews
Would you like to see my hockey stick? by Sybill, Alexander Ovechkin/Evgeni Malkin
When in doubt, set it on fire by Snickfic, Sidney Crosby/Alexander Ovechkin
I wrote three fics, all for the Raven Cycle. Here's some commentary, because I like that kind of stuff.
Horsepower, Ronan gen (ish)
Twist endings are super fun to write, and I loved finding Easter eggs to put into this (shoutout to
isis for making sure my obscure mythology references weren't too obscure). I wanted to write Ronan encountering the fae, and since he's a speed demon, pookas seemed like an obvious choice. There are stories about maidens who steal a handsome lad's silver necklace, which turns into a bridle and gives her power over the creature in his horse form (wikipedia tells me this myth is about kelpies, not pookas, but shhhh). Pookas are associated with the festival of Samhain, and farmers often left a small portion of the harvest in the field to placate the pooka (and what is trick or treating if not harvesting the crops?). Ronan, being a Latin dork, knows that Roman spirits are placated by pouring wine onto the grave.
The Washerwoman, Ronan/Gansey
I really, really want Ronan to find out about Gansey's death sentence, because his misery is delicious and he would take it so badly. The washerwoman at the ford is one of my favorite creepy Scottish folktales, and it fits in nicely with Gansey being some kind of old world prince, tragically fallen before his time. I think I stole Ronan and Gansey's bed sharing from
ariadnes_string, but I've seen it cropping up in other fics, which is great because it's an awesome headcanon. I don't regret getting my OTP all over this one, because their weird codependency gives me life.
A Sorta Fairytale, Maura + Persephone + Calla gen
This was a late addition I knocked out as a thank you to Isis for being an awesome beta, and because I finished Blue Lily, Lily Blue and had feelings about the women of Fox Way and Maura as a young single mom. The more we learn about these women, the more I like them (I loved all the comparisons between Ronan and Calla in the latest book). Maura's such an unconventional mother that I can picture her being a bit of a hellion in her youth, and I like how Calla and Persephone balance that out.
