In all my future AUs, Ronan remains at the Barns while the others go to college and travel the world. I think Blue Lily, Lily Blue set him up as the nurturing type (let me cry about Matthew some more), and we already know he's the most spiritual brother, the most idealistic brother, the brother most tied to family and identity and home.

I totally agree! The little thingy I wrote for fandom_stocking was actually a tiny bit of backstory for a story that I haven't written (and may never) in which Adam goes to college and Ronan stays at the Barns and they meet on the ley line every so often. I can't imagine Ronan leaving Henrietta, certainly not until Matthew graduates, certainly not for good. (Which sets up an interesting conflict in that I can't imagine Adam not wanting to get the hell out. And now I sort of want to write a bittersweet story in which Gansey dies/transforms beyond reach of his friends, and Ronan won't leave the Barns and Matthew and Aurora, and Adam and Blue go off to college and eventually marry each other, knowing that they are both each others' second-best, but even that is far better than anyone outside their own OT5 group.
