Snowflake Challenge, day 6

darkrosaleenSnowflake Challenge number 6: In your own space, make a list — anything between one and ten things is a sweet spot, but don't feel constrained by that! - of things that you wish existed in fandom or elsewhere, or that you'd like someone to make for you. Are you dying for podfic of your writing? Do you need icons for a character that doesn't get much fanart? Is there a story you want to read? Are you looking for new canons to get into? Would you like a collaborator for a project?
Maybe you want more people to talk about a certain fandom with, or you'd love to trade ficlets with somebody over email. Maybe you're new to a fandom and would like some recs to start reading, or communities to join. This is the time to ask!
The Rise of Skywalker got me back into Star Wars in a big way, so that's what my wishlist will focus on! Star Wars fandom is so vast and convoluted that it can be hard to find things you like, or even to find a good entry point to the genre you're interested in. I've seen all nine main continuity movies and read a lot of fic, but my experience with the EU is limited to a kids' Jedi school novel I read in the early 2000s. I make some ship-specific requests below, but I'll read pretty much any ship as long as it isn't bashing other ships.
Here's my post-TROS Star Wars wish list (here lie spoilers):
1) Recs for post-TROS fic that isn't trying to "fix" the movie ending. I adored Rise of Skywalker, and I especially adored the way that Rey and Kylo Ren's relationship was resolved, and it's really hard to find fic that explores that ending. I want to read more about Ben's choice to sacrifice himself for someone he loves (and how he finished what Anakin started), about the repercussions of Rey dying and coming back, about Rey living through the messy aftermath of falling for and then losing the Big Bad of the First Order. I'd also love post-movie fic that shows Rey trying to pull herself together after Exegol with Finn and Poe and Chewie, as long as there's no anti-Reylo undertones.
2) Recs for cute Finn/Poe/Rey or trio gen fic without anti-Reylo undertones. Anything that explores Finn's Force sensitivity would be great, as would Rey and Poe being hotheaded pilots together.
3) A guide, list, or recs for where to start with the extended universe. The amount of material to choose from is intimidating, and I'd really appreciate some rundown of major timelines or characters to follow. If you want to give individual recs, I'm interested mostly in the main characters from the original and sequel trilogies, and I like plots that deal with the Jedi/Sith and grey morality. I'm also interested in hotshot flyboys and redemption arcs.
4) Recs for good canon-based Reylo fic. There's so much of it out there that I don't know where to start, and looking through the AO3 brings up a lot of modern AUs and other things I'm not interested in. I'd especially love fics that deal with the antagonistic side of their relationship, and how they came together in the vulnerable spaces between fights. I'll also take recs for Reylo fanart, fanmixes, vids, or other fanworks.
5) The main Reylo spaces seem to trend young, and spaces like FFA with an older userbase don't like Reylo much. If there's a comm or discord or something where all the non-teenage Reylos are hanging out, please let me know! Or if you're a non-teenage Reylo who's chill and wants to talk about death magic and femdom, feel free to friend me :)
6) I'd love an icon that says "Come to the Dark Side, we have femdom" but I'm too lazy to make one myself.

Date: 2020-01-12 11:00 pm (UTC)My favorite Disney canon stuff from the Prequel era is the Kanan comics (you need to watch the first season of Rebels to really get the emotional reactions the writer wants), Master and Apprentice (Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan), and Catalyst (about the Erso family from Rogue One). I'm sorry I can't help with the post-RotJ stuff.
