I have nothing clever to say, so here's a meme.

What I wrote in 2020:

Fun Size, G, Bon Appetit Test Kitchen RPF, Brad Leone/Claire Saffitz, ~800 words

You're Twisting My Melon, Man, E, Oasis RPF, Liam Gallagher/Noel Gallagher, ~1300 words

Nighthawks, T, Star Wars Sequel Trilogy, Poe Dameron/Rey, ~1700 words

Sorry Boy, I've Been Hit By Purple Rain, E, Guardians of the Galaxy (Movies), Peter Quill/Yondu Udonta, ~1800 words

Tricycles, E, Bandom, Patrick Stump/Mikey Way/Pete Wentz, ~9600 words

Black Rose, E, The Terror (TV), Cornelius Hickey/Thomas Jopson, ~500 words

6 works posted, down from 12 in 2019. I only posted fic for exchanges (and one bang), and I only posted one work for every exchange/bang I signed up for (I picked up a pinch hit, but it was for an exchange I didn't sign up for so I count it as 1 fic per signup). I wrote no explicit het this year (which means no femdom), and wrote a lower percentage of het overall. I also wrote in 6 different fandoms, two of which I've never written before!

So I wrote some bandom age play for Iddy Iddy Bang. Tricycles, Patrick/Pete/Mikey, E, 9591 words

Little Black Dress Exchange just had reveals, and I made out well! I received two nice little fics, one for my favorite pairing in the fandom and one for a surprise rarepair (which is the ideal spread for this particular exchange, IMO).

Late Night Entertainment by Tish - The Terror, Cornelius Hickey/Solomon Tozer, E

Seduction of the Innocent by Aurae - Star Wars Original Trilogy, Obi-Wan Kenobi/Luke Skywalker, T

I only wrote one fic for this exchange, for a character I added to my offers last minute. I multiship most of my favorite characters, but I have a few classic bicycles I want to shamelessly whore out to everybody, and Peter Quill is one of them.

Sorry Boy, I've Been Hit by Purple Rain - Guardians of the Galaxy, Peter Quill/Yondu Udonta, E

Little Black Dress is the last exchange I'm doing for a while (I signed up for Iddy Iddy Bang Bang, but that's a low-pressure commitment and I was planning to write that fic anyway). I've been in an exchange rut since last year, trying a bunch of new shiny exchanges and then stressing out and finishing my assignment at the last possible second with no time or energy for treats. I ended up happy with most of them, but that's due to much more post-bus-pass editing than I usually do. My quarantine personality is "start ten million incredibly complex projects so I stay constantly busy but never finish anything," which I'm sure doesn't help.

Finally, a fic title meme I stole from [personal profile] isis (and then hoarded for a month so I could include my LBD assignment)

Thank you for passing around one of my LBDs! This exchange is tailor made to my shipping style and I'm so excited to see what you come up with, whether it's a much loved juggernaut, creative rarepair, or interesting poly ship of any size. Please don't feel limited by ships I allude to in my signups, I'm sure you have great ship ideas I never would've thought of!

Thank you for writing my first May the Fourth gift! I've recently fallen back into Star Wars fandom and I'm hungry for anything you want to write. I have a lot of likes and prompts listed, but if nothing here speaks to you, I'd rather you write a story you're passionate about. I've only requested fanfiction, but fanart treats are welcome. I adore the visual aesthetics of Star Wars and would love any art that incorporated it.

Snowflake Challenge number 6: In your own space, make a list — anything between one and ten things is a sweet spot, but don't feel constrained by that! - of things that you wish existed in fandom or elsewhere, or that you'd like someone to make for you. Are you dying for podfic of your writing? Do you need icons for a character that doesn't get much fanart? Is there a story you want to read? Are you looking for new canons to get into? Would you like a collaborator for a project?

Maybe you want more people to talk about a certain fandom with, or you'd love to trade ficlets with somebody over email. Maybe you're new to a fandom and would like some recs to start reading, or communities to join. This is the time to ask!

The Rise of Skywalker got me back into Star Wars in a big way, so that's what my wishlist will focus on! Star Wars fandom is so vast and convoluted that it can be hard to find things you like, or even to find a good entry point to the genre you're interested in. I've seen all nine main continuity movies and read a lot of fic, but my experience with the EU is limited to a kids' Jedi school novel I read in the early 2000s. I make some ship-specific requests below, but I'll read pretty much any ship as long as it isn't bashing other ships.

Here's my post-TROS Star Wars wish list (here lie spoilers):

First, let me get my (spoiler free) Rise of Skywalker hot take out of the way: I loved it. My dad loved it too, and he's been a Star Wars fan since A New Hope came out. It's not a flawless movie, I had a few plot quibbles and thought the big halfway-through-the-movie twist was really dumb, but I thought it was a perfectly fun, beautiful-looking, heartfelt Star Wars movie. I went twice and cried both times. I want to buy one of the lightsabers. I want to be Dark Rey for Halloween.

My first Star Wars movie was Phantom Menace, and I think this shaped the kind of fan I am and how I reacted to the sequels. I was nine years old, and I still remember how excited my dad was to take his kid to see a new Star Wars movie in theaters. That excitement died a quick and terrible death, but it gave me the Star Wars bug: I loved the grungy ships and the cool creature costumes, I loved Darth Maul's double lightsaber and Padme's senate gowns and the fight between good and evil. It led me to the original trilogy, which I loved even more (Luke/Leia was my first ever ship). My introduction to Star Wars came with the heavy knowledge that as George Lucas giveth, George Lucas taketh away. Only Sith deal in absolutes.

I love the sequel trilogy, but I feel like I experienced it on the sidelines a little bit. Rise of Skywalker was the first one I saw in theaters; I didn't see The Last Jedi until the week before TROS came out (partly because it got such bad reviews; I could see the plot problems but I enjoyed the hell out of that one too). I played around in the fandom for a bit in 2016, and I dipped back in occasionally in the past couple years, but it was never my main fandom. Partly because I was behind on canon, partly because the whole fandom was a cesspit of discourse and shipping drama, partly because I had other fandoms I cared about more.

Cut for Rise of Skywalker spoilers )

I'm trying to follow Rose Tico's advice, and save the things I love instead of destroying the things I hate. I want to catch up on Rogue One and Solo and The Mandalorian, and maybe dip my toes into the EU. I'll write the fic I want to read, and maybe it'll make another fan like me happy.

ETA: I made a Star Wars wishlist for snowflake challenge, mostly asking for EU and fanwork recs. Pop over there if you have something to rec!

I received two amazing gifts for the recent remix exchange! Both of these are very fun and aren't getting a lot of attention, so if you liked the original fics I wrote, I recommend checking them out. All the originals are linked in the fics.

Unfortunate Son (the Liar, Liar, Liar remix)
The Raven Cycle, Declan Lynch/OMC, remix of Fortunate Son

The morning after's always crowded with thoughts of the night before.

The Star (That Suicide Girl Magic remix)
Bandom, Pete Wentz/Mikey Way, remix of The Empress

Boys in bands mean trouble - Pete should know, he is one - but maybe this one means the good kind?

Hello creator! I went a little nuts with likes, so hopefully something in this strikes your fancy. I requested Fanfiction for everything, but I'm fine with fanart treats, or treats that don't match my requested ratings.

While I don't want stories to focus on communicating consent (e.g. discussions of boundaries or frequent check-ins), my favorite thing in a kink story is the characters really, really wanting the kink, even (especially) if that want is a source of embarrassment. Subs who get desperately turned on fetching their dom coffee, doms who melt at the sight of a sub on his knees, masochists who crave a beating. I love vulnerable men crying, hurting, and being totally overwhelmed by sensation. I love subs who don't fit the conventional mold, but are exactly what their dom wants.

For the past six weeks, I've had 49 published works on AO3. I had a lot of complicated feelings about what to write for my fiftieth: whether to dip back into a previous monofandom, or a nostalgia fandom I haven't written before, or to start fresh with a new canon I'm currently devouring. I wanted to post a work that meant something to me as a fan.

So I did what anyone would do: I signed up for a 48 hour nonsense exchange and wrote a semi-serious crackfic from the POV of salt.

Sweat, Tears, or the Sea, The Magnus Archives, Jonathan Sims/Martin Blackwood, original non-human characters

Statement of salt, harvested from a mine in Scotland and bought at an organic grocer in Chiswick by Martin Blackwood in summer 2016.

Statement never written or recorded.

From the random freeform tags I threw in my signup, I expected to get some ridiculous kinky porn (if I got anything). I actually got two wonderful serious takes on my requested tags, which is as wonderfully absurd as writing salt POV.

Dark Mirror's Lies, Star Wars, Rey/Kylo Ren

In an Alternate Universe, Ben Organa is a Jedi and Rey is a Sith. Rey takes Ben captive and makes him her slave.

The Force, or at least its Dark Side, wanted it that way.

Five Times Jon Sims Would Really Rather Be Anywhere Else, The Magnus Archives, Jonathan Sims/Elias Bouchard, Jonathan Sims/Michael, Jonathan Sims/unspecified tentacles

He really should have read the fine print.

This mix is a companion to justtothesea's Pete/Patrick vid, burn the city. I created a mix from the evil witch's point of view, telling a story of jealousy, possession, lust, and black magic. I hope this is just as dark and sexy as the vid that inspired it.

The tracks loosely follow the witch as she falls to the dark side. Driven mad by jealousy and lust, she is tempted by the dark side and casts a spell to claim the man she wants. The relationship she gets is dark and twisted, just the way she likes it.

Thank you so much for writing me something! I've included some general likes and dislikes as well as some fandom inspiration. I mention a lot of dark themes and kinks, but I also like gen/vanilla/consensual, so don't feel obligated to go super dark. My prompts are just jumping off points, so feel free to write something else if the mood strikes.

I received a hilarious, very hot omegaverse fic, with nontraditional dynamics and a fun, dumb bro-y vibe.

Fiction that has blinded us, Hockey RPF, Jamie Benn/Tyler Seguin

I wrote two fics, both involving femdom cunnilingus. I had some personal stuff going on that made this a stressful exchange, but I'm really happy with what I wrote and received, so I'm calling it a win.

Lay right down in my favorite place, Hockey RPF, Mitch Marner/Dylan Strome

From Seafoam, Blade Runner 2049, Lieutenant Joshi/Officer K

I finally finished a two line bingo on my Bandom Trope Bingo card (all fics linked here). It was a fun, low-pressure way to try out short fics for a bunch of different prompts and pairings.

I have about five unfinished fics I'm working on, but work insanity is making it hard to focus, so who knows if/when anything will get published. It's also tough to self-motivate when you know the fandom isn't great at feedback. It feels like this fandom is really segmented; I've met a lot of cool people, but because we don't read and write the same ships and bands, we don't talk to each other much. And some corners of the fandom have big, thriving communities with lots of feedback, but it stays in those corners and doesn't spread around.

I haven't done one of these in a while, so here are some rambling notes and thoughts on my Big Bang fic. It had a difficult birth, but I think I wrote the best story I could under the circumstances.

In other Bandom Big Bang news, I made a complement fanmix for aethel's podfic of the Frank/Gerard sexswap fic Wake Up and Notice. It has female artists, references to cunnilingus, and cheesy sexual innuendo.

It's finally here!!! I'm not sure how I managed to finish this with all the chaos going on in my personal life, but it's done and posted. I also received gorgeous companion art by [personal profile] rosiedoes

Title: To Soothe a Savage Breast
Band: Fall Out Boy
Ship: Pete Wentz/Joe Trohman/Patrick Stump
Tags: Van Days, Werewolves, Witches, Spells Gone Wrong, Age Difference, Dudes in Distress, Original Character(s), Dom/sub, Puppy Play
Summary: In 2001, Pete Wentz makes a bargain: he'll give his heart to an ancient wolf spirit, and his new band with Joe will be successful. But magic works in unexpected ways, and soon their new band is being hunted by a predatory young alpha who wants them as her playthings. Wracked with guilt and struggling to make things right, Pete makes enemies of a powerful Chicago-area pack.

In 2002, Patrick might have the weirdest band in the Midwest. Followed by strange animals and aggressive thugs, he struggles to find his place in the personal dynamics of the band. Meanwhile, Pete struggles between wanting Joe and not wanting to ruin him, wanting to take care of his friends and wanting to be take care of, and having his heart belong to the wolf while his body doesn't.

I was frustrated by my Big Bang and my job, so I wrote some crazy kinky vampire fic. This feels a bit extreme even for a fandom that's 80% vampire AUs, but I have no regrets.

Title: On Tap
Relationship: Pete Wentz/Joe Trohman
Tags: Vampires, Blood Drinking, Pulse Kink, Cock & Ball Torture, Oral Fixation, Erectile Dysfunction, The blowjob equivalent of vagina dentata, Masochism
Summary: Ever since the change, Pete's appetites have been a bit unusual. Joe is more than happy to help.

I've been diving into bandom recently, and I just signed up for [community profile] bandombigbang. A big bang has been on my fannish bucket list for a while, and I've signed up for two in the past that wound up not working out, so hopefully third time's the charm.

Reading bandom fic after being in hockey fandom is an interesting experience. There's obviously a lot of trope carryover (although hockey needs more vampires), and a lot of similarities between the structure of the fandoms themselves--two juggernaut ships with completely different supporting characters, abnormally intimate work relationships, a third juggernaut that gained prominence after the original fans moved on, pre-fame fic where they're awful repressed teenagers, hotel room sex. It's new and shiny for me, but familiar.

I didn't listen to the bandom bands as a teenager, and while I find them catchy, I'm mostly in it for hot tattooed guys and lots of quality fic. Whereas hockey fandom has a lot of people just in it for the tropey fic, but it's a deeply rooted part of my identity that got me through some shitty times in high school and college. Being so emotionally invested probably made the fandom a worse experience for me, but it's probably why I can't seem to quit it either.

But I'm looking forward to trying a big bang, and I'm writing some fun iddy tropes. Not looking forward to having Fall Out Boy stuck in my head for the next six months, but what can you do.
